Cather Lecture

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — Professor Merrill Maguire Skaggs of Drew University (NJ) will give a free lecture on the author Willa Cather in the Stetson Faculty Lounge on the Williams College campus on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 4 p.m.
"A Willa Cather Gold Mine and Other Surprises" will be offered in conjunction with the Chapin Library of Rare Books' current exhibit: "She Loved All Great Formal, Noble Things: A Willa Cather Miscellany” — drawn largely from the collection of David H. Porter, the college’s Harry C. Payne visiting professor of liberal arts. Before the lecture Porter will make some brief remarks on the materials on display in show, and a reception in the library will follow the lecture, sponsored by the college’s English and classics departments and the Chapin Library.
